Quick Start Guide

Time to complete: ~5 minutes

What You’ll Build

In this tutorial, you’ll create your first touchpoint - a marketing asset that helps you share memorable short links and track their performance. By the end, you’ll have:
  • ✅ A branded short link (e.g., li2.ai/summer-promo)
  • ✅ Real-time analytics dashboard showing clicks
  • ✅ Understanding of how to manage and update touchpoints
  • ✅ (Optional) Ability to enable QR codes when needed

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:
  • ✅ A Li2.ai account (create one here if you haven’t yet)
  • ✅ A destination URL you want to link to (e.g., your website, product page, or social media profile)

Step-by-Step Guide

1

Step 1: Access the Dashboard

After signing in to Li2.ai, you’ll land on your dashboard at app.li2.ai/org/.The dashboard is your command center where you can:
  • Create new touchpoints
  • View existing touchpoints
  • Access analytics
  • Manage organization settings
Look for the Create Touchpoint button - it’s prominently displayed at the top of the page or in the navigation bar.Li2.ai Dashboard

Step 2: Click Create Touchpoint

Click the + Create Touchpoint or New Touchpoint button.A creation form will appear with 2 tabs:
  • Short Link: Create a short link only (recommended for this guide)
  • QR Code: Create a touchpoint with QR code enabled by default
Select the Short Link tab to continue. You can enable QR codes later if needed.Create Touchpoint Button

Step 3: Enter Your Destination URL

The Destination URL is where users will be redirected when they click your short link.In the Destination URL field, enter the full URL including https://:
  • ✅ Correct: https://example.com/summer-sale
  • ❌ Incorrect: example.com/summer-sale (missing https://)
Example destinations:
  • Your website homepage: https://yourcompany.com
  • A product page: https://store.com/products/new-item
  • Your Instagram: https://instagram.com/yourusername
  • A Google Form: https://forms.google.com/... Destination URL Field
Pro Tip: You can change this destination URL later without updating published links. This is one of Li2’s most powerful features!
4

Step 4: Customize Your Short Link Slug

The slug is the part of your short link that comes after the domain. For example, in li2.ai/summer-sale, the slug is summer-sale.You have three options:Option A: Auto-generate (Random)
  • Leave the slug field empty and Li2.ai will generate a random string like a7Bx9Q
  • Good for: Quick creation when the link URL doesn’t matter
Option B: AI-Generated Slug
  • Click the ✨ AI Generate button
  • Li2.ai analyzes your destination URL and suggests a relevant, memorable slug
  • Good for: Automated but readable slugs (e.g., summer-2024 for a summer campaign page)
Option C: Custom Slug (Recommended for beginners)
  • Type your own slug in the field
  • Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only
  • Keep it short and memorable (3-20 characters)
  • Good for: Branded, easy-to-remember links
Examples:
  • summer-sale
  • 2024-product-launch
  • signup
  • menu Slug Field with AI Generate
  • Slug Must Be Unique: If someone else in your organization already used a slug, you’ll see an error. Try a different variation like summer-sale-2024 or promo-summer.
  • Minimum Length: Slugs must be at least 5 characters long.

Step 5: Add a Title (Optional but Recommended)

The Title field is for internal organization - it helps you identify this touchpoint in your dashboard later.
Li2 will automatically fill in the title from your destination page if detected. You can keep it or edit as needed.
Enter a descriptive title that explains what this touchpoint is for:
  • ✅ Good: “Summer Sale 2024 - Instagram Campaign”
  • ✅ Good: “Product Launch Landing Page”
  • ❌ Too vague: “Link 1”
This title is only visible to you and your team members - end users won’t see it.Title Field

Step 6: (Optional) Add Tags

Tags help you organize and filter touchpoints, especially when you have dozens or hundreds of them. For your first touchpoint, you can skip this or add simple tags like:
  • campaign: summer-2024
  • channel: instagram
  • type: promotional
You can always add tags later from the touchpoint management page.Tags Field

Next Steps

Now that you’ve created your first touchpoint, explore these features to get more value from Li2.ai:

Common Questions

Yes! This is one of Li2.ai’s key features. You can update the destination URL anytime from the touchpoint management page. Your short link and QR code stay the same, but they redirect to the new destination. Perfect for:
  • Seasonal campaigns (update for summer, fall, winter promotions)
  • Product launches (redirect from coming-soon page to purchase page)
  • Event updates (change from registration to venue information)
No. Once a touchpoint is created, the slug cannot be changed (this prevents broken links). If you need a different slug, create a new touchpoint and delete the old one if necessary. However, you CAN change the destination URL anytime.
Slugs must be unique within your organization. If someone already used a slug, try:
  • Adding a year: summer-sale-2024
  • Adding a location: summer-sale-nyc
  • Adding a campaign code: summer-sale-fb
  • Using the AI-generate feature for creative suggestions
From your dashboard, click on any touchpoint to view its analytics page. You’ll see:
  • Total clicks and scans
  • Geographic distribution (countries and cities)
  • Device types (mobile, desktop, tablet)
  • Referrer sources (where clicks came from)
  • Time-series graphs showing traffic over time
Learn more in the Analytics Overview.
Yes! You might want this for:
  • Different campaigns pointing to the same landing page (track which campaign performs better)
  • Different channels (one slug for Instagram, another for email)
  • A/B testing different QR code designs
Each touchpoint has separate analytics, so you can compare performance.

Troubleshooting

Solutions:
  • Make sure to include https:// at the beginning
  • Check for typos in the URL
  • Verify the destination website exists and is accessible
  • Remove any special characters that might be encoded incorrectly
Solutions:
  • Make sure you’re using your phone’s native camera app (not a third-party QR scanner)
  • Hold your phone steady and ensure good lighting
  • Try rescanning from a different distance
  • Download the QR code in a larger size if the code appears too small
  • Ensure the QR code isn’t distorted or low resolution when printed
